Poems by Lenore Hetrick
THE SUNSET BANNER
October carries a sunset banner,
For it is the sunset of the year
The hills are dying in the fire of
glory,
The world will soon be gray and sere
But now to the sound of ancient bugles
Whose notes are borne to a far-off sea
,
October carries a sunset banner—
And it is a beautiful sight to sea!
As is the gold of the setting sun!
Her sunset banner is shot with flame—
As the western sky when the day is done!
And now the sound of rare, old bugles,
Whose notes are soft as a hidden rill ,
October carries her sunset banner,
And, singing ,she passes beyond the
hill.
NATURE’S MUSIC
I loves nature’s music,
And summertime songs.
In the forest her great singers
Gather in throngs
The wind play the harp,
And the birds take the tune.
The bass part is sung
By the man in the moon!🌙
Each one knows his part
To be very last letter.
And even or radio📻
Doesn’t sound any better!
